| Get A Firm Grip On Your Mental Game
One of the keys to developing a great mental game is to clearly realize that your mental state affects the chemistry of your brain, which in turn affects your ability to perform. Then, it's just a matter of reprogramming your mind to optimize your chemistry so you can play at your highest level and in the zone.
The best way to get a firm grip on
the mental game of golf is to become very aware that your
negative emotions upset your brain's chemistry and play
havoc with your game. If a golfer spends time on
improving his or her emotional state, they would
immediately see lower scores.
For example, if you have fear while you are putting,
you instantly upset the chemistry of your brain, which regulates
all of your natural abilities both physical and mental. As a result
your putting will suffer, since your body will not be able to duplicate
the stroke mechanics you have when you are relaxed and confident.
When you miss a golf shot and get angry, you upset your chemistry and will probably miss your next shot unless you release your anger.
If you get firm grip on your emotions, you will be well on your way to mastering the mental game of golf and life.
